The LCO was created in 2007 with a mandate is to review the law and make recommendations for reforms to make the law more accessible, effective and relevant; to clarify and simplify the law; consider how technology might increase access to justice; and stimulate critical debate about the law. The LCO is guided by its Strategic Plan and by values that include openness and inclusiveness. Information about the LCO’s projects and other work can be found here.
The Board is responsible for overall supervision of the LCO, developing policy and approving the budget, research projects and final reports and recommendations. The Board’s activities are guided by its Governance Policy.
