Current Strategic Plan

The LCO was originally established by Agreement dated July 6, 2007, and renewed for five years on January 1, 2012.  Through this partnership, the Law Commission of Ontario has a mandate to make recommendations to

• make the legal system more relevant, accessible and efficient
• simplify or clarify the law
• use technology to increase access to justice
• stimulate critical debate about law, and
• promote scholarly legal research

The Board of Governors has approved policies to govern the operations of the Commission:

• a “Good Governance Policy” in keeping with our values of excellence, transparency and accountability (under review);
• "Language and Translation" (under review);
• "Copyright and Attribution" to apply to research completed for the LCO;
• "Retention of Consultants";
• Accessibility Policy; and
• Use of Information and Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

The current Strategic Plan (2012-2016) sets standards for the LCO's activities. The LCO Board of Governors periodically reviews the Strategic Plan and its policies.
