Judy Mungovan

Judy Mungovan joined the LCO in April 2013. She has been Counsel with the Ministry of the Attorney General since 1996. Judy worked on a number of diverse law reform initiatives within the Ministry, including family law and tort reform. She has developed a number of pilots to improve access to justice for First Nations, Metis and Inuit people and to reduce their over-representation in the criminal justice system. Judy also helped develop a website to assist justice system participants in understanding and responding to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She has led a law reform project on behalf of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada, and has participated in a number of diverse Federal/Provincial/Territorial working groups of senior government officials. Before attending law school, Judy trained and worked as a Social Worker in child protection, and has a strong social justice background. Judy has taught in a variety of educational forums, both within and outside of government.
