The LCO would like to thank former MAG LCO Counsel in Residence Jason Balgopal for his contributions to the LCO’s law reform activities. As the project head of the Class Actions project during the course of his term, Jason made strong headway on the Class Actions discussion paper and helped to create a database of all class action cases in Ontario over the past 20 years. He concluded his one-year term with us in June 2015.

Jason’s successor is Fran Carnerie, who will join us on July 20, 2015. Fran’s background is with the Ministry of the Environment, Legal Services Branch, where most recently she has been a Deputy Director of Special Projects, and where she has been involved in a number of sensitive and difficult matters. Fran will continue work on the LCO’s multi-year class actions project.

This year, the LCO welcomes a special visitor, a second counsel from the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG),  Ken Lung, who began his term with the LCO on June 1, 2015. His most recent position at MAG was as Portfolio Director in the Office of the Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Legal Services Division. Ken will have a “special issues” portfolio, assisting with all the LCO’s projects.
