Summer 2012 Student Researchers

Summer 2012 Student Researchers

The Law Commission of Ontario invites applications for summer 2012, from law students currently enrolled in a JD or LL.L. Ontario law school program.  The LCO’s mandate is to make recommendations to reform law to increase access to the legal system, to simplify and clarify the law and to consider ways in which technology can assist in these objectives.  It is also expected to stimulate critical debate about law and promote scholarly legal research.

Students will be primarily involved in carrying out research in support of the LCO’s projects and depending on the stage of the projects, students may also have an opportunity to participate in consultations with legal or community groups and other organizations and other on-going activities of the LCO. Students will have an opportunity to see and participate in the process of law reform from inside a law reform commission.  Students may have the opportunity to prepare papers on relevant issues. Students may be requested to do some administrative work.

The LCO office is located at Osgoode Hall Law School in the Ignat kaneff Building.on the York University campus in Toronto. Students from law schools outside Toronto may work in the city where their law school is located, but will be expected to attend at the LCO offices once or twice over the summer (expenses paid). Some travel may be required, depending on the particular activity in which the student is involved.
