Former OHLS LCO Scholar in Residence, Sean Rehaag, was recently profiled on the CBC and Toronto Star for his work assessing Canada’s refugee determination process. During his tenure as Scholar in Residence, Professor Rehaag added to his rigorous study of Ontario’s legal aid regime for refugee claimants, comparing it to regimes in other jurisdictions with the objective of identifying how the different policies affect rates of representation and success in refugee claims. (Legal Aid Ontario has recently made changes to its process for lawyers representing refugees.)

Professor Rehaag’s forthcoming paper, No Refuge: Hungarian Romani Refugee Claimants, co-authored with Julianna Beaudoin and Jennifer Danch’, is available here.
