Executive Director Patricia Hughes participated in a social lab on Family Justice and Mental Health, organized by the Winkler Institute for Dispute Resolution at Osgoode Hall Law School. The project, with partners Legal Aid Ontario and the Ontario Psychological Association, brings together individuals from a variety of disciplines, including law, psychological and social work, to consider a multidisciplinary approach to addressing the needs of persons with mental health challenges trying to navigate the family legal system. The LCO’s final report, Increasing Access to Family Justice through Comprehensive Entry Points and Inclusivity, recommended multidisciplinary networks or centres that recognize that family law problems do not exist in isolation and that members of particular communities require assistance other than legal assistance.
